Hydrogen and Ammonia

Ammonia is the single largest industrial application for hydrogen and as clean hydrogen scales, it will not only change ammonia’s carbon intensity, it will reshape where ammonia is produced, how it is transported and who controls the value chain.

The transition from grey to blue to green ammonia is driving production away from traditional natural gas hubs, towards a more regional approach with low-cost renewable power and access to storage.

At the same time, ammonia’s role is expanding way beyond fertilisers and into the energy markets, hydrogen transportation and maritime fuel. Demands centres are diversifying, and so are pressures on the supply chain.

This raises the questions: will ammonia production remain centralised in large global hubs, or will decentralised and distributed models emerge?

In this gasworld webinar, we’ll look at how clean hydrogen is redefining ammonia production networks, trade and infrastructure.
